SUGAR & GRILLING makes your skin OLD and SAGGY!!!

Posted in HEALTHY SKIN on December 28, 2007 by Angie Brinkley

Today I learned today some big news about sugar and the grilling of foods that really shocked me! I couldn’t believe the impact the two have on your skin over time. It scared me, so I am sharing this immediately.

This information came from a dermatologist by the way. I didn’t read it in a magazine..

Let’s start with plain sugars:
SUGAR, whether it is from sucrose, fructose (sugar in fruit), or glucose binds to collagen, stiffens it and causes it to break. The breakage or loss of elasticity is what ultimately creates wrinkles and sagging skin. So you have to be careful with the amount of sugar you are ingesting every day.

It is recommended to choose an orange over orange juice and to limit the amount of sugar you consume (juice has as much as a soda). Portion control!

Now this is the biggest shocker: Grilling meats at high temperatures causes the fat they contain to break down and produce free radicals. You can minimize free radical production by slow cooking the meat, or, according to a recent study, sprinkle rosemary on meat before grilling it. The anti-oxidant properties of rosemary help to counteract the free radicals that form during the high-temperature cooking process.

Broiling meats SLOWLY, and poaching fish are the best ways to avoid the damage to the skin.

One more thing: NUTS. Salt does so much damage to the skin as well, let alone effects on the heart and your blood pressure, etc. When choosing nuts, always choose raw nuts. The roasting and the salting of the nuts is destroying your skin as well. The process of roasting nuts breaks down their oils and results in free radical production.

Now I’ve been lucky with the nuts. I always buy the raw nuts just because of the salt content of the others but also, my gut feeling has told me from the beginning that raw is best!

So add that to your nutrition blueprint and we’ll all save money on all the skin care products we use now and in the future!
